Kinja'd!!!

Boeing sure likes to get pics of its planes over Mt Rainier. I’m heading out to Seattle tomorrow for one of our big recruiting conferences. If any of you Opponauts are going to be at SHPE come say hi.

First shot is a Dr. Strangelove screencap, right?

That they do... heck of a back drop and just minutes from “home”. Pic above was from an Alaska 737-900 earlier this year coming into Seatac.

Nope. If you look closely, you’ll see that the B-52 in that picture still has the original tandem fighter-style cockpit. General Curtis LeMay, an old bomber pilot himself who was famous for getting exactly what he wanted, told Boeing to change the bomber to side-by-side seating like the bombers back in the day. So they did.

Of course, as I’m typing all this, I realize you may have been kidding. Oh well...

I see now what you’re talking about. And no, I wasn’t kidding. Just seemed familiar.

It does look very familiar. It’s somewhat reminiscent of the background when Slim Pickens rode the bomb, one of the truly iconic images from film. The interactions of the crew on the B-52, as well as their procedures, were remarkably accurate in that film. I need to watch it again. It’s been years. And suddenly seems timely again.

I watched it last year during American History after we’d already taken the AP exam. Such a great film. I was thinking more of the flight scenes themselves:
